
Today we remember the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi persecution and during more recent genocides.
Earlier I marked the day by attending a ceremonial flag raising in Glossop and tonight by lighting a candle as others are across High Peak, the UK and the world.
Ordinary people were involved in every aspect of the holocaust – perpetrators, bystanders, rescuers, witnesses – and the victims.
Ordinary people can stop it happening again by playing our part in challenging prejudice today.
