Over the Bank Holiday weekend and during the recent heatwave, I was contacted by residents with concerns about the large numbers of people visiting Harpur Hill Quarry, often known as the "Blue Lagoon".

I'm pleased that action has now been taken to dye the water, helping to discourage people from entering what remains a dangerous and unsuitable site for swimming.

Recent footage shared by Emma on TikTok highlighted some of the issues being caused by visitors, including littering, anti-social behaviour and damage to the surrounding area. While the quarry may look inviting in photos and videos, it is not a safe place to swim and can pose serious risks to health and safety.

Thank you to everyone who got in touch to raise their concerns, and thank you to Emma for taking some time to clean up some of the litter over the past few days.
