I joined the ceremony in Buxton this morning to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2024, which is tomorrow 27 January.
Holocaust Memorial Day remembers the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of people murdered under Nazi persecution of other groups and during more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
For generations we have promised it can never happen again. With the rise in antisemitism in the UK and globally, our generations must stand firm on that promise.
Tomorrow at 8pm I encourage everyone to light a candle and safely put it in your window to remember those who were murdered for who they were and to stand against prejudice today.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, let’s take action for all of us 💜
We’ve come a long way in changing the conversation around mental health, breaking down stigma and encouraging more people to speak openly and seek support.
But we can’t risk going backwards.
Together, we can keep building communities, schools and workplaces where mental health is taken seriously and where everyone feels supported, valued and heard.
