Labour Party Manifesto 2024

Labour’s manifesto for change is a plan to kickstart economic growth by reforming Britain’s economy and bring about a decade of renewal.

This manifesto is an ambitious programme driven by belief in our country and its potential for the future. It is the change the country needs.

Our plan for Britain is a fully costed, fully funded, credible plan to turn the country around after 14 years of the Conservatives. It contains a tax lock for working people – a pledge not to raise rates of income tax, national insurance or VAT.

It is proof of a changed Labour Party with Keir Starmer that will change Britain – if people vote for change in the general election on Thursday 4 July.

Labour’s manifesto is built around five national missions to end sticking plaster politics, end the chaos, turn the page and meet the long-term challenges the country faces.

Labour’s first steps for change show how we will begin to achieve those missions, with plans to deliver economic stability, cut NHS waiting times, launch a new Border Security Command, set up Great British Energy, crackdown on antisocial behaviour and recruit 6,500 new teachers.

But Liargone said you'd scrap it🤔

Didn't Robert whats-his-name single-handedly achieve this when he used to live in Glossop?😆

You cant to it without Jesus Largon, he must save us from this evil labour govornment. /sarcasm

Please do keep fighting for the high peak 16-18 year olds travelling into Manchester for college to get the free bus pass- where all 16-18 s get free bus travel and yes let’s support our young people by making this Derbyshire county wide subsequently

I remember this initiative being promoted by local constituents and supported by Labour. What I don't recall is Tory-controlled Derbyshire County Council or the previous MP doing much to tackle the issue. So, all power to your elbow, Jon, in order to progress the scheme 👍

Keep up the good work Jon

📺WATCH: HIGH PEAK DENTAL DESERT

Today I raised the issue of access to NHS dentistry services in the High Peak with the Health Secretary in Parliament.

After speaking to over 16,000 people on doorsteps over the last two years many anguished residents told me their difficulties in finding an NHS dentist or being forced to go private.

I’ve heard stories of families having to wait years to find an NHS dentist or having to travel miles to find one in other parts of the country.

This is not fair. High Peak deserves better.

I will continue to campaign on this issue and raise it in parliament until we get our fair share of NHS dentists here in High Peak.

Thank you. Could you also address the stupidity of 111 arranging emergency dental appointments in Derby (50 odd miles away) for High Peak residents living a stone's throw from much more accessible services in Stockport (8 miles). We pay National Insurance on a National basis via PAYE so we shouldn't only be limited to Derbyshire NHS services if other NHS services are much closer and much more viable. We may have a Stockport postcode but we still have the Derbyshire "postcode" discrimination when it comes to access to services 🙃

I agree the High Peak does require more NHS dentistry. Lots of issues locally to deal with Jon Pearce for High Peak as well as the two children cap which you voted to continue last night. I understand you may not have wanted your lose the whip (so soon after being elected)like Zarah Sultana and the others but you could have abstained. Towing Starmer’s line every time isn’t representating the people who elected you. I’ll be following your voting preferences.

Would like it explained please why you followed the government whip over the child benefit cap . Also your thoughts about M.P's being suspended for following their conscience. It really isn't a good start for Labour in which we are all putting a lot of hope after such a traumatic 10 plus years of the tories. Thank you.

I represented High Peak at the Back British Farming NFU parliamentary reception yesterday.

It was great to hear from both NFU President, Tom Bradshaw, and Daniel Zeichner, Labour’s minister for farming. Both agreed that food security is national security.

Our farmers and rural communities have had a raw deal over recent years with unaffordable energy bills, flooding, crime and problems with mental health all on the rise. Worryingly farming has the highest levels of suicide of any sector in the country.

These are all huge issues to deal with and I’ll be making the case on behalf of our farming communities for us to deliver on our commitment of a new deal for farmers.

With regards to farming the land is a valuable asset for food production .So why are solar panels being put on this valuable resource. Check out why new builds do not have to install solar panels on the roofs surely that dying thing called common sense can see the acreage of roof tops that should be used.

Many CONGRATULATIONS Jon Pearce for High Peak MP well done for supporting British Farming, which is so important, especially to the Farmers in the High Peak !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about supporting farmers to transition to arable farming instead of keeping livestock? vivafarming.org.uk/keeping-uk-farmers-feeding-the-nation/

This date will always be etched in my mind.

On 17 July 2023 I sat with my father in his final hours.

Exactly one year later on 17 July 2024 I stood in parliament as an MP listening to the first King’s speech of a new Labour government.

No greater contrast in emotions is imaginable.

I wish he could have lived a little longer to witness the moment.

I think he would have been proud. Proud of me and of a new Labour government ready to deliver the change our country so desperately needs.

I’m sure he would have been extremely proud of you.

I'm sure he would have been proud, Jon. Labour's made a good start in Government after 14 years of Tory chaos, corruption and lies, and it's refreshing to have a decent MP for High Peak again.

Bless you and yours, Dad would be grinning to see you and so proud x

I have been made aware of an incident at a house in Furness Vale.

I understand that Cadent and other emergency services have attended the site.

I have been reassured there is no risk to the general public.

It is too early to confirm the cause of the incident. This will be determined in due course. At this stage, there is no indication of any issue with the gas network.

If you do have any concerns, please contact the emergency services in the usual way. If the concerns relate to smelling gas or you notice damage to gas pipes, act immediately and call 0800 111 999, day or night.

After my first week in Westminster it was good to be back home.

One of my pledges during the general election campaign was to make us feel proud of our towns again.

Making our Towns feel safer will be an important part of that.

In Buxton the issues on Fairfield Road with crime, anti-social behaviour and drugs are a real concern and have a devastating impact on the lives of so many.

They also impact our local economy, providing an unfair first impression to tourists and visitors of our fantastic spa town entering Buxton from the north.

Derbyshire Police in partnership with our local councils and other stakeholders have created Project Unity with the aim to reduce organised crime in Buxton and build a safer community to support this.

It was brilliant to join Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Nicolle Ndiweni in Fairfield today to open the local Project Unity HUB, which will provide a focal point for the project.

This will not be a quick fix and will require us all, including the local community, to work together and to stay the course.

The rewards if we are successful for all of the people affected, the local community and the whole of Buxton will be immeasurable.

It’s time to give Fairfield and Buxton their future back.

Brilliant first step to focus on this. Much needed. I am incredibly concerned about increased drug use and County lines in the town as a Mum and a local teacher. Our young people need protecting (as does everyone) from the desperate effects of drug use

Well done Jon Pearce for High Peak MP for the High Peak of Derbyshire, it appears that you have had an extremely busy week for your first week, keep up the great 👍 work as a LABOUR MP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's time that MPs swore allegiance to the people who they serve. All of them, no matter which party they belong to, were put there by the voters in their constituency. Therefore, all of them should regard the people as being their first priority.

Very best wishes Jon as you start your journey of representing High Peak as our MP.

Many CONGRATULATIONS Jon Pearce for High Peak MP the new LABOUR MP for the High Peak of Derbyshire, well done to everyone involved in making this happen, thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
